Below are descriptions, information, and tutorials
on Music Sequencing and Notation
Sequencing? Notation? What's the difference?? |
Sequencing Software allows you to record MIDI
data much in the same way you would record an audio tape except
it is done digitally. You are presented with "transport" controls
such as Stop, Play/Pause, Fast Forward, Rewind, and Record, as
well as multiple MIDI "tracks" in which to record data basically
in the same way analog multi-track tape recorders work. Sequencers
are mostly concerned with SOUND. If you want a MIDI file to SOUND
good, use a sequencing program. Notation Software allows you to enter MIDI data the same way that sequencing software does. The one big difference is that Notation software is mostly concerned with how the music LOOKS, not how it sounds. If you want to write a piece of music to print out so you can play it on a non-electronic instrument, such as a piano or trumpet, use a notation program. |
