"Northwestern
Lehigh School District Fine Arts Philosophy"
We
believe
that the fine arts are essential, fundamental components of
general education, as well as a means to improving it. Music
and the visual arts require active participation involving the
students, and allow the students to develop problem-solving, higher
order thinking skills, and a life-long learning experience. The arts
allow multi-cultural relationships to be explored, enabling students to
share
in the spirit and heritage of the people who created the works
We
believe
that students gain personal satisfaction, intrinsic motivation,
and enjoyment from participation in the arts and believe that the music
and visual arts programs should provide a structure for continuous
growth and development for all students to pursue their individual
interests and abilities.
We
believe
that
the
school
has
an
obligation
through
the
fine
arts
to
help students develop their potential, and should provide an outlet for
creativity, self-expression, coping with the subjective and maintaining
a balanced perspective on life.
